Data Sheet

USES AND APPLICATIONS:
Sculpture brick is versatile “stucco” mortar enhancement process that simulates the appearance and texture of brick. It can save thousands of dollars when compared to traditional brick. Sculpture Brick is for non-structural interior and exterior vertical surfaces. Sculpture Brick is ideal where weight load is a factor. Some interior uses include wine cellars, arches, accent walls, and fireplaces. Some exterior uses are foundations, veneers, retaining walls, chimneys, pillars, Hardscape and out-buildings.

COMPOSITION:
Sculpture Brick is a manufacturer blended compound of Portland cement, hydrated lime, aggregates and proprietary Ingredients. Sculpture Brick color packs and liquid bonding agent may be added depending on application. See attached data and MSDS sheets for color and bonding agent.

SAFETY:
READ and UNDERSTAND the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) before using this product. WARNING: Wear protective clothing and equipment. See HMIS block. For emergency information, call CHEMTREC at 800-424-9300 or 703-527-3887 (outside USA). KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

PACKAGING:
Sculpture Brick mortar is available in 80 lb. (36.2 kg) bags; There are 42 bags per pallet.

STORAGE:
Store material in a dry place and off the floor.

COVERAGE:
Approximate coverage per 80 lb. covers 28sq.ft. to a thickness of 1⁄4”

MIXING:

1. Empty contents into a mortar box, wheelbarrow or mechanical mixer. When mixing by hand, form a crater for adding water. Add clean potable water to achieve a workable mix. If too stiff, add more water a little at a time. AVOID A SOUPY MIX. Excess water reduces strength and durability and can cause cracking. In cold weather use warm water to accelerate the set. Use cold water to slow the set in hot weather. Re-tempering impairs performance.

80 lb. (36.3kg) = 5.3 qts.

2. If using color add appropriate amount for desired color. Mix dry until color is evenly dispersed then add water.

3. Stop mixing for 5 to 10 minutes to temper the mix. Add only the additional amount of water necessary to bring the mix to a workable consistency. This will allow longer open time during the application of the mix.

JOB PROCEDURE:
When applying to a standard frame construction it is recommended to install 18lb. felt paper then 3.4 fiberglass or metal lath (shown in fiq.1) for additional protection a weather guard (Tyvek) may be used under felt paper. All windows, doors &other protrusions must be properly flashed using appropriate flashing material and procedures. Weep screeds are also used.

APPLICATION:

1) Apply scratch coat to lath (When applying to block or masonry board scratch coat is not required)

2) Broom scratch coat to provide a good mechanical bond to next coat. For concrete or masonry board application bonding agent should be applied to the surface with an 8x6x2 sponge.

Trowel the base “brown coat” to produce the recommended 1⁄4” thickness this will be the color of the mortar joint. (Sculpture Brick Color may be added) Float or brush to eliminate “slick spots” and open the surface to enable a good mechanical bond for the finish coat.

Apply colored finish coat to a 1⁄4” thickness and float with dampened sponge. Then use texturing techniques to create desired look.

Lay out desired pattern and use Sculpture brick tool to create brick.

During periods of high humidity extra time may be required between coats. During periods of hot or dry weather conditions, a light Spray (mist) of clean water is recommended over the finish. Finished product will normally set and dry the same Day. Allow up to 28 days for maximum curing. Color performance may be affected by the addition of field additives and this is something that is not recommended. Do not over-trowel smooth finishes. Excessively over- Troweling can cause bubbles or air pockets, cracking or discoloration.

SAFETY:

Always wear proper safety equipment, including particle mask when mixing and or applying this product!

TECHNICAL DATA:

Exceeds ASTM Specification C 387 when used as directed. Complies with ASTM C 270 Not to be used as a grout on traffic bearing surfaces. Compressive Strength Water Retention

CURING:

In hot weather lightly dampen the material as needed to promote adequate curing. In cold weather adequately cover and keep from freezing for a minimum of 24 hours.
